Boss Curle happy as Cobblers secure 'pleasing' draw at Fleetwood Town

Cobblers boss Keith Curle was satisfied with a point and a clean sheet away from home after his side were held to a goalless draw by Fleetwood Town on Tuesday.

Town made a slow start but clicked through the gears and dominated much of the second-half, creating the game's best two chances for Ryan Edmondson and Danny Rose.

Whilst neither were able to convert, Curle reflected on a decent away performance and a useful point, one which lifts them out of the League One relegation zone.

"It was pleasing to get a point and a clean sheet away from home because that gives us a starting point," said Curle. "We got better as the game went on.

"We managed to get a foothold and had the best chance with Ryan, and I thought we gained more dominance in the second-half with the substitutions.

"We protected the ball better, we used the ball better and got into some good crossing positions and we finished really well and looked the more likely team to win it."

Cobblers had a string of corners in the closing stages but despite several close shaves, could not force the winning goal.

Town again started with January signings Bryn Morris and Edmondson in their side, plus debutant Peter Kioso.

"It was another chance for the new signings and they did well," Curle added.

"We were also missing Jack Sowerby and Mickel Miller who are two important players and were bright sparks for us on Saturday.

"That meant a slight readjustment but it shows the strength of the squad that we can miss those two players and still finish the game on the front foot and looking like the side who were going to win it."
