Keith Curle has told the Cobblers supporters that they can expect to see plenty more goals from 'developing' striker Benny Ashley-Seal.

The 22-year-old hit the target for the third time in Town colours when he notched the winner in Tuesday night's 2-1 Papa John's Trophy win at Exeter City, controlling a high ball into the box before turning sharply and firing home from 12 yards.

The former Wolverhampton Wanderers man came off the bench to have a crucial impact, and Curle hinted he well be getting more game time in the weeks ahead.

And if he does, then the Town boss is also confident Ashley-Seal will soon be celebrating his first Sky Bet League One goal for the club, with his other two also having come in the EFL Trophy.

"The goal the other night showed what Benny is all about," said Curle.

"He can score a goal out of nothing, and he is learning and developing his craft as a centre forward.

"He is a young player who has come through the system, and now he is getting used to the rigours of the professional game, and the physical side of the game.

"Previously, having that physical contact and being able to use his body was not one of his attributes.

"Now he is getting an understanding, and we are teaching him how to pin centre-backs, how to roll centre-backs, and the affect that can have on the opposition.

"He is learning all the time, and the lad can score goals.

"He can score with his left foot, right foot and although he needs to work on his heading in the box that is again something we have identified.

"His attitude towards learning and developing is something that I appreciate."

Ashley-Seal was delighted with the goal against the Grecians, and feels things are looking good for the team ahead of Saturday's trip to Crewe Alexandra.

"It's always nice to get the winning goal," said Ashley-Seal.

"It was a tough game watching from the sidelines, but I am happy to come and make an impact as I did.

"We have lost one in six, the team is getting better, we are gelling better, and on the pitch you can see simple things like pattern of play are coming off and we are getting used to each other.

"We are working hard in training and all we can do is keep on trying."
