Boost for Brackley Town as loan extension agreed with Tamworth for ‘formidable’ defender

Tommy Fogarty will continue with Brackley Town for at least another month, extending his loan spell from Tamworth.

The 22-year-old has started nine of the Saints’ National League North matches so far this season, proving to be a pivotal player in defence.

Whether in his natural centre-half position or in an auxiliary right-back role, Fogarty always gives his best and has proven a formidable asset.

The 16-time Northern Ireland Under-21 international was supposed to head back to National League outfit Tamworth on October 10 after the 2-1 win over Spennymoor Town.

However, Fogarty has been allowed to stay for another four weeks or so. That’s a huge boost for Brackley.

As long as he can stay fit, Fogarty will be available to feature in the Saints’ next five league games against Hednesford Town, Radcliffe, Spalding United, Worksop Town and Chester.

There’s then a break between the Chester clash on November 7 and the next league game, away at Southport on November 21. That might be when Fogarty departs.

But for now, at least, the 6ft 3in defender can put all his energy into succeeding at St James Park.

Fogarty can also be reunited with fellow Birmingham City academy graduate Byron Pendleton, who has rejoined Brackley on loan until January.

Pendleton spent four months with the Saints last season, impressing enough to win the players’ player of the season accolade.

Now, less than a year on, the right wing-back will be eager to settle in nicely yet again – this time on loan from Shrewsbury Town.
