Steelbacks 'in a good spot' after securing second successive T20 win

Calvin Harrison says the Northants Steelbacks are 'in a good spot' after he helped them to make it two wins from two in this season's Vitality T20 Blast.

Harrison hit a helpful 30 from 20 balls as the Steelbacks racked up 191 all out at Worcestershire Rapids on Sunday afternoon.

And he then went on to star with the ball, taking four for 17 as the Rapids were bowled out for just 91 at New Road, earning the Steelbacks a 100-run success.

It backed up their narrow victory at home to Glamorgan last Friday night and ensured their T20 campaign has started in fine fashion.

And Harrison said: “It was a strong all-round performance in every phase really.

“There will still be areas this early in the competition where we can improve and touch up, maybe target the boundary a bit more towards the back end, but the top order set us up beautifully.

“It was nice to be able to go in and take some risks at the death, but that is a big strength of ours that we bat so deep.

“Our bowling options are great as well so we are in a good spot.”

Worcestershire Rapids bowler Adam Finch, who took three for 36, said: “That clearly hasn’t gone our way today, but we know how quickly the competition moves and we wont get too caught up on it.

“We have to dust ourselves off for a massive game against the Bears on Friday.

“They had a good powerplay and took the momentum early and I didn’t execute my skills as I would have liked.

“I tried to stay calm because things like that can happen in T20 cricket, don’t get too caught up on it and make sure that the next time my chance comes I take it.”
