Bowler Sanderson says Steelbacks prepared to play T20 clashes behind closed doors
The cricket season is suspended until July 1 due to the coronavirus pandemic, but there are no guarantees the sport will resume then as the Government lockdown is set to continue for a while yet.
There has been reports of social distancing measures remaining until late in the year, and if that is the case, then allowing spectators into sporting events is going to be virtually impossible.

Hide AdSports such as cricket, football, rugby and F1 are contemplating going behind closed doors to get seasons and competitions finished or started, with events being shown live on TV.
Sanderson feels playing games behind closed doors wouldn’t be ideal, particularly when it comes to the Vitality T20 Blast, but says it would be a move he would support.
“The thing the lads look forward to is a T20 Friday night at Northampton, where there are 5,000 or 6,000 there,” said Sanderson.
“It is a great atmosphere and you tend to raise your game, that is what we all love doing.

Hide Ad“But I think at this point, the lads just want to start playing again, so if it is behind closed doors then maybe a few more games being shown on TV, then so be it.
“That would probably help people as well, just having something live to watch.”
