Eithan James and Ben Vaughan both added to their burgeoning reputations with victories in key bouts.

James was in action for England against Scotland, beating John Casey on a unanimous decision at Birtley Social Club in Newcastle.

And Vaughan made it a delightful double as he claimed a midlands title, triumphing in a light-welterweight Junior ABA box-off.

Vaughan now boxes in Huddersfield this Saturday as he goes up against a Yorkshire fighter in the national pre-quarters.

“Eithan and Ben, who between them have won eight national titles, continue to impress at every level,” Daly said.

“But the bottom line is that they put it in in the gym and the training continually,
first in and last out, six days a week.

“They do it right, which is the difference between success and failure, so these performances do not come as any surprise.

“The club is very proud of both of them, but the equally important thing is the solid teamwork and strong connection between the boxers and the Kings Heath coaching team.

“James Conway and Mark Vaughan are also part of the hard-working background staff who ably and voluntarily assist with helping them to make it all happen.”

James, who is a triple national champion, was in fine form in his cadet bout against Casey, overcoming his nerves to claim a debut victory against the Scottish youngster.

James got into a smooth rhythm with fast, stylish combinations throughout and despite conceding height, the 15-year-old was able to get in close in the second round, putting the Scottish champion on the canvas.

A comfortable third round put the scoring beyond any doubt to secure an eye-catching and notable success over an opponent who had a wealth of international experience.

Vaughan was in action at the Redbourn Club in Scunthorpe, clashing with Bracebridge’s Joe Silson.

The Kings Heath scrapper got the better of his opponent, earning a unanimous decision win over three three-minute rounds.

Despite conceding nearly 18 months, Kings Heath’s triple national champion left nothing to chance, producing a very solid display.

He simply overwhelmed Silson from the outset, going through the gears in the second and third rounds with a variety of tremendous body shots.

FAR COTTON ABC ace Morgan Bosley will be in action in the Junior ABA Championships this weekend.

The talented youngster squares up to Rotherham ABC’s Evan Colley in the 60kg national pre-quarters at Wakefield on Sunday.

And Far Cotton head coach John Daly said: “Morgan is in top form.

“He’s been training very hard and we go in very confident as all of his work at the gym has gone to plan.”

Chantelle Walker and Callum Terry will also be taking to the canvas this weekend as they both head to Oxford on Saturday.

Walker faces a skills bout against Emily Kenny (BBLEYS) at 33kg.

Terry will make his Far Cotton debut when he faces Hamaad Reehan (BBLEYS) at 56kg on the same bill.

Last weekend, Laura Stevens was in Derby for an east midlands training camp.

The 69kg Far Cotton fighter is bidding to earn selection for a clash with an Irish team next month.

“Laura is hoping to be picked and she’s got a really good chance,” Daly said.

“She has been training hard in the gym.”
