Regatta’s back-to-school range has kids’ fleeces for £4.80 and jackets from £25

Parents preparing for the return to school can pick up children’s fleeces from £4.80 and padded jackets from £25 in Regatta’s new weather-ready collection.
Parents bracing themselves for another expensive back-to-school shop may be surprised by some of the prices in Regatta’s latest collection, which includes children’s fleeces for less than £5 and padded jackets from £15.
The outdoor clothing specialist has launched a new range designed to handle the changeable British weather, covering children from nursery age through to their teenage years.
Among the cheapest items is the Kids’ Hot Shot II Half Zip Fleece, priced at £4.80 and available in sizes from three to four years through to 14 years.
There are 25 printed and plain colour options to choose from, which may help families find something children will actually agree to wear. Its 170gsm Symmetry fleece fabric is brushed on one side and treated to resist pilling on the other, while the half zip makes it easier to pull on when the temperature drops.
For colder school mornings, the Lofthouse Padded Jacket costs £25 and comes in 11 colours, including both printed and plain designs. Sizes extend from three to four years up to 15 to 16 years.
It uses 200gsm recycled Warmloft insulation and has a durable water-repellent finish, an elasticated hood and two zipped lower pockets. Reflective trim runs around the jacket to make the wearer more visible in low light.
One of the most intriguing products in the collection, however, hides a rechargeable torch inside its sleeve.
The Beamz Waterproof Insulated Jacket costs 49 and incorporates Regatta’s Brite Light sleeve torch technology. The built-in LED light is intended to provide additional visibility during gloomy morning walks and darker journeys home from school.
The jacket also has reflective trim offering 360-degree visibility, alongside 140gsm insulation and taped seams. Its Isotex 15,000 fabric is designed to be waterproof and breathable, providing more substantial protection when the school run coincides with a downpour.
Five colours are available, with sizing running from three to four years through to 14 years.
Another £24 option is the Junior Changing Robe, which could be useful for swimming lessons, school sports and wet weekends away. Its waterproof 200gsm Hydrafort outer fabric is combined with taped seams and a warm Borg fleece lining.
The robe has an inner security pocket, two lower pockets, a fixed hood and adjustable cuffs. It comes in 16 colours and prints, with sizes ranging from three to five years up to nine to 13 years.
Children who prefer a fluffier layer can opt for the Kids’ Frankie Warm Full Zip Fleece. Priced at £17.50, it combines polyester and recycled polyester in a 200gsm Borg fleece fabric.
Available for ages three to four through to 15 to 16, it has a zipped chest pocket, two zipped lower pockets and reflective detailing. There are 11 plain and patterned versions.
Regatta’s back-to-school collection extends beyond clothing. The Shilton II 15L Backpack costs £18 and includes padded shoulder straps, a padded back panel and reflective detailing. Its main compartment uses a top-lid closure, while separate zipped pockets provide space for smaller items.
It is available in three colourways and has enough capacity for everyday school essentials without becoming an enormous bag that threatens to topple a smaller child backwards.
At £15, the Thermulate Insulated Mug is another affordable addition. Its 1.2-litre capacity is sizeable, but the double-walled stainless-steel construction is claimed to keep drinks warm for up to six hours or cold for as long as 12 hours.
The mug comes in 10 colours and has a multifunction twist lid with a straw. Its size may make it more suitable for older pupils, family journeys or parents tackling the school run than for a young child’s lunchbox.
Many pieces in the new range contain recycled materials, including the insulation used in the Lofthouse Padded Jacket and some of the fleece fabrics.
With prices beginning at £4.80, the collection offers families several ways to prepare for wet walks, chilly playgrounds and darker autumn evenings without turning the annual school shop into a second mortgage.
