Tesco recalls ready meals due to allergy fears

Tesco is recalling two of its ready meals following the discovery that the items may cause an allergic reaction.

The Hearty Food Company Cottage Pie and Hearty Food Company Sausage and Mash contain milk, which is not mentioned on the label.

This means the products are a possible health risk for anyone with an allergy or intolerance to milk or milk constituents.

The affected products come in pack sizes of 400g, with use-by dates of: 24 April 2018, 27 April 2018, 28 April 2018, 30 April 2018, 1 May 2018, 2 May 2018, 3 May 2018, 4 May 2018, and 5 May 2018.

A Tesco spokesperson said: "Please do not consume these products if you have an allergy to milk, return the affected product to store where a full refund will be given.

"No receipt is required. Tesco apologises to our customers for any inconvenience caused."
