Would EWE believe it .. Northamptonshire firefighters to the rescue after SHEEP gets stuck!

Kindly firefighters added another key role to a long list when they stopped to rescue a stranded sheep.

A Northampton crew returning from an incident in Corby spotted the woolly warrior which had managed stuck in its feeder on farmland at Overstone.

They stopped, removed it and sent the uninjured sheep on its way.

Farming is the latest departure for Northamptonshire's Fire & Rescue's heroes during the Covid-19 crisis.

Teams battled a rise in blazes resulting from out of control bonfires as residents found alternative ways to get rid of garden rubbish while council tips were closed.

Groups are also working alongside medics with East Midlands Ambulance Service using their first aid and driving skills, transporting Covid-19 victims to Northamptonshire's temporary mortuary site at Woollaston and delivering vital medicines to the county's elderly and vulnerable shielding from the pandemic.

The county's Chief Fire Officer Darren Dovey said: “Our firefighters are committed to supporting their community in every way that they can and are proud to be playing their part as we deal with this national emergency.

“We will continue to respond to fire and rescue emergencies whenever we are needed, while we adapt the way we work to meet new challenges with pride.”
