'˜Week of action' set to take place in Lings area of Northampton

A week of free events and activities is set to take place at various locations throughout the Lings area of Northampton next week.

The activities are organised by the Northampton Community Safety Partnership as part of its week of action programme and will include a variety of activities for the whole family.

As part of the planned events from Monday 12 to Saturday 17 September, the Community Safety Partnership will be consulting with local people to find out what they think about their area and what issues they have.

Advice will also be available on personal, family, and property safety. environmental improvements will be ongoing throughout the week, with Community Payback and Neighbourhood Wardens cutting back shrubs, litter picking and generally tidying local areas.

Organised by partners from Northampton Borough Council, Northamptonshire Police, Growing Together Neighbourhood Forum, Northampton Partnership Homes, and other agencies, the week’s activities include:

Youth engagement and sports activities

Crime prevention and home security advice

Rubbish removal and community clean-up activities

Dog micro-chipping.

Mike Hallam, Cabinet Member for Community Safety, said “The week of action at Lings is a great opportunity for local residents to get help and advice from a variety of different agencies whilst taking part in a local resident’s consultation. It is a fantastic chance for local people to come together to help improve their community.”

The week will culminate in a community fun day at Brookside Hall, Lings Local Centre on Saturday, September 17.
