Met Office issues thunderstorm warning across Northamptonshire as high temperatures continue

A yellow weather warning for thunderstorms has been issued across Northamptonshire, as high temperatures are expected to continue.

The weather warning, issued by the Met Office, is in place from 3pm until 10pm on Tuesday May 26 and covers all of the county, as well as much of the midlands some of the south west of the country.

According to the weather authority “isolated intense thunderstorms could bring disruption to a few places”.

The warning says: “Whilst many areas will miss them and remain hot and sunny, isolated thunderstorms are possible this afternoon and into the evening. These could bring frequent lightning, large hail, gusty winds and the potential for 30 millimetres of rain in less than an hour.”
