Flood warning issued for part of Northamptonshire after heavy weekend rainfall

A flood warning has been issued to part of Northamptonshire after a weekend of heavy rainfall.

The River Tove is expecting to flood from Towcester to Cosgrove after river levels began to fall last night (October 4).

According to the Government's flood information service, river levels are expected to decline further as more light rainfall is forecast this week.

Information on the service's web page says: "River levels started to fall overnight and are continuing to decline at the Cappenham river gauge after this weekend’s heavy rainfall.

"We expect flooding to affect the River Tove from Towcester to Cosgrove, including Silverstone Brook.

"Further light rainfall is forecast over the next couple of days though we expect river levels to continue to decline during this time.

"We will continue to closely monitor the situation."

The flood warning will be updated at 4pm today (October 5) and can be found on the gov.uk website.
