A woman escaped an attempted sex attack in Northampton town centre in the middle of what would have been morning rush hour.

Police are appealing for witnesses after two men approached the victim between 7.40am and 8.40am last Thursday (April 9) and demanded she take off her trousers.

When she refused the attackers attempted to touch the woman before she managed to get away.

The Covid-19 lockdown means town centre streets are virtually empty at times when they would normally be busy.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Police said: "The suspects are described as two white men, both wearing grey trousers and black tops.

"One of the men was of large build and wore a black hoodie. The other was of medium build and wore a grey hoodie.

"We are asking for any witnesses or anyone with any information about this incident to call is on 101 using incident number 20000189824."
