Two people were hospitalised after falling into the Grand Union canal at Stoke Bruerne, near Towcester, on Sunday (February 7).

The incident happened at 2.45pm, which saw the ambulance service and fire service called to the scene.

An East Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman said: "We received a call at 2.39pm on Sunday to Stoke Bruerne, Towcester, to assist with a medical emergency. We sent a paramedic in an ambulance car and two crewed ambulances. We transported two patients to Northampton General Hospital."

A police spokeswoman also confirmed they were made aware of the incident.

She said: "This happened at 2.45pm when two people fell into the Grand Union canal. They were rescued and treated by the ambulance service."
