It will be carried out overnight from 8pm to 6am on weeknights only from Monday April 12 to Tuesday April 20.
A spokesperson for Northamptonshire Highways said the works were originally scheduled for February but had to be postponed due to poor weather.
"Bridge Street will be resurfaced from the Victoria Promenade junction, past St John’s Street and Victoria Gardens and back to the Victoria Promenade junction.

Works include resurfacing, renewing ironwork where required, installing road markings and the application of high friction surfacing on the approaches to the traffic lights.
"We will also clean the gullies to ensure we complete as much work as possible during the closure and to minimise disruption for residents and motorists in the future," the spokesperson said.
Diversion signs will be in place during the work.
