More angry motorists have complained about a Northampton car park after concerns were raised about penalties being issued wrongly.

Phil Taylor successfully challenged a penalty charge notice from NCP who thought he had not paid but he had actually driven through St Peter's Way car park.

Many others on the Chronicle & Echo's Facebook page have had similar experiences to the 46-year-old, of Queens Park, with some saying they had their appeals rejected.

Nicole Thomas wrote: "I didn’t even park in their car park and got a fine! Tried to dispute it and they wouldn’t have it!"

Martin Jones added: "That car park is a joke, I paid and got a fine. Then appeal which is a waste of time, that company should be banned from operating."

However others did manage to cancel the fine like Phil who used a data protection request to get an extra picture of his car which proved he had not parked in St Peter's Way.

Laura Desborough commented: "This happened to me, luckily I had kept the ticket from Commercial Street car park and sent this off for my appeal.

"I did lose the appeal and had to go to POPLA and they cancelled the fine. This car park is a total joke."

Lynda Pagano posted: "Happened to me as well, I appealed and it was cancelled."

NCP has come under fire before over St Peter's Way car park, having taken over the site from Northampton Borough Council in September 2018.

Dozens of fines for mostly disabled motorists were refunded after the firm accepted its signage was not good enough as Blue Badge holders now have to pay to park.

Other problems have included ticket machines not working and litter.

Back on Facebook, Stacey Pagington commented: "This car park has been ripping people off since they took over! Something needs to be done now!"

While Erica Barnes added: "Boycott this car park! NCP will soon make changes if their revenue is affected. There have been issues here ever since they took it over."

Alaina Duffield wrote: "Everyone needs to stop using this carpark, I refuse to use it because they fine people willy nilly!"

NCP has still not responded to requests for comment.
