Smash closes two lanes on M1 between Northampton and Milton Keynes

A crash has closed two lanes on the M1 southbound causing severe queues between Northampton and Milton Keynes on Thursday afternoon.

Highways England reported the crash at around 3.15pm near to Newport Pagnell Services.

Traffic is stalled all the way back to Junction 15 going and the agency estimates it could take well into the evening rush hour to clear

A spokesman for Highways England said: "Traffic officers and recovery are on their way to the area."
