Road closures announced across Northampton - here’s when and where to avoid delays
Drivers across Northampton are being warned of multiple temporary road closures that will take place later this month.
West Northamptonshire Council has confirmed that a series of short-term restrictions will begin from November 9, 2025, affecting roads in Northampton, Kingsthorpe, Duston, and surrounding villages.
Milton Street North will be closed from Romany Road to Masefield Way starting November 24, 2025, while carriageway repairs are carried out. The works are expected to last for up to three days. A diversion will be in place via Masefield Way, Kingsley Road and Romany Road.
In Kingsthorpe, Manor Road will close between Knights Lane and Welford Road on November 10, 2025, for one day of carriageway repairs. Traffic will be diverted along Welford Road, High Street and Knights Lane.

A one-day closure will also take place on Chiltern Avenue, Duston, from Bants Lane service road to Bants Lane, on November 28, 2025. The closure will allow for carriageway repair works. The suggested diversion route is via Bants Lane, Harlestone Road and Cotswold Avenue.
Further resurfacing work is scheduled for Ivy Road, Northampton, between Abington Grove and Abington Avenue, from November 18, 2025. The road will be shut for approximately two days, with traffic redirected along Abington Avenue, Holly Road and Abington Grove.
Southampton Road, between London Road and Haines Road, will close on November 11, 2025, for one day while repairs to a manhole are completed. Motorists can follow a signed diversion via London Road, Euston Road and Haines Road.
Outside the town, similar short-term closures are planned in:
Berry Lane, Wootton (November 10 – 1 day, carriageway repairs)
Towcester Road, Tiffield (November 24 – up to 3 days, resurfacing)
Heyford Lane and Furnace Lane, Nether Heyford (November 9–30, safety works and inspections)
Passenham Lane, Deanshanger (November 10 – vegetation clearance)
Station Road, Helmdon, West End, Silverstone, and High Street, Weston (mid-November – short-term works).
All closures will operate “only at such times and to such an extent as indicated by the display of signs,” according to West Northamptonshire Council.
