Residents invited to comment on 20mph scheme and new speed humps for Northampton road

West Northamptonshire Council has published plans to introduce a 20mph speed limit in Park Avenue South in Northampton, with new traffic calming measures proposed along the stretch.

The draft Order, issued under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984, would create a 20mph zone covering a section of the A5095 Park Avenue South and include physical measures such as speed humps, cushions and build-outs to encourage compliance, the council says.

A copy of the draft Order, a plan showing the exact length of road affected and the council’s reasons for the proposal are available to view on the council website at www.westnorthants.gov.uk.

Anyone wishing to make representations or object to the Order must submit comments in writing to the Traffic Orders Section, Kier Highways, Highways Depot, Old Harborough Road, Brixworth, NN6 9BX, or by email to [email protected], quoting reference P2122. The deadline for responses is April 9, 2026.
