A Northamptonshire Police spokeswoman said: “This incident is a single-vehicle collision which involved a car pulling a caravan which has jack-knifed on the westbound carriage and collided with the central reservation barrier. It happened at about 12.30pm.”

Traffic has been stopped eastbound to allow for the caravan to be righted and for the vehicles to be recovered. Lane two on the westbound carriageway is also closed.

There is around 30 minutes of traffic in both directions, due to congestion and queues in leading to the collision.

Northamptonshire Police posted on X: “We are currently dealing with a road traffic incident on the A14 between junction 2 and 3.

"The eastbound carriageway has been closed to allow for recovery, while the westbound is still reduced to one lane, which is causing tailbacks.

"Please avoid the area if possible.”

UPDATE: Traffic has now been released. Lane two of two on each carriageway remains closed for barrier repairs. Motorists are asked to leave extra time for their journey.
