New 50mph speed limit proposed for road near busy Northamptonshire train station
Drivers in Long Buckby could soon face reduced speed limits on one of the village’s busiest routes.
West Northamptonshire Council (WNC) has announced plans to introduce a 50mph speed restriction in Station Road, covering a section stretching from 331 metres east of its junction with George Lane for a distance of 1,270 metres in a north-easterly direction.
The council says the change is intended to improve road safety along the route, which is the main road from the A5 into Long Buckby and the train station. Station Road has also been listed in the past as a site for mobile speed camera enforcement.
Residents and motorists have until Thursday September 11, 2025 to make representations, objections or statements of support. Comments must be submitted in writing to Kier Highways at the Brixworth Highways Depot, Old Harborough Road, or by email to [email protected].

Copies of the draft order, including detailed maps, can be viewed online at the council’s website by searching “Traffic Regulation Orders”, or in person at the Brixworth Depot by appointment.
