New 30mph and 40mph speed limits proposed for roads in Northamptonshire village
New 30mph and 40mph speed limits could be introduced on several stretches of road in Brixworth under proposals put forward by West Northamptonshire Council (WNC).
The council has published plans to introduce new speed restrictions covering parts of Mercedes Avenue, Morgan Drive and Scaldwell Road.
Under the proposals, a 30mph speed limit would apply along Mercedes Avenue from its junction with Scaldwell Road northwards for a distance of 257 metres.
A short section of Morgan Drive would also become subject to the 30mph restriction, covering 12 metres westwards from its junction with Mercedes Avenue.

Meanwhile, two sections of Scaldwell Road would be subject to a 40mph speed limit.
The first would run from a point 65 metres east of the centre line of its junction with Quarry Road, eastwards to the junction with the northern arm of Scaldwell Road – the section extending north from Holcot Road.
A second 40mph restriction is proposed from a point 46 metres south of the centre of the roundabout at its junction with Scaldwell Road, running northwards for 98 metres.
West Northamptonshire Council has issued a formal traffic regulation order proposing the changes.
The authority said the effect of the order would be to prohibit motorists from travelling at speeds exceeding the new 30mph and 40mph limits on the affected stretches.
Residents and motorists have now been invited to have their say before a final decision is made.
Anyone wishing to object to, support or make representations regarding the proposals must submit their comments in writing, including the grounds for their views.
Representations must be received by Thursday, September 3, and should quote reference P2192.
Details of the proposed order, including a plan showing the exact stretches of road affected and the council's reasons for proposing the changes, are available through West Northamptonshire Council's website.
Documents can also be inspected by appointment at Kier Highways' Brixworth Depot on Harborough Road.
