Major Northampton road closures announced for November and December - drivers warned of delays
A series of major road closures are set to affect Northampton drivers this November and December, with West Northamptonshire Council announcing multiple temporary restrictions for essential repair works.
The works will impact several routes across the town, including Walter Tull Way, Westcott Way, Southfield Avenue, Stimpson Avenue, Foxgrove Avenue, Candleford and Alfred Street - with closures lasting between one and five days depending on location.
One of the most notable closures will affect Walter Tull Way, between Edgar Mobbs Way and the entrance to the McDonald’s car park. The order is due to take effect on December 1, 2025, and could last for up to five days, although the 18-month order allows for works to be carried out intermittently if required.
The closure is needed to allow carriageway repairs, and the suggested diversion uses Weedon Road and Upton Way.

Westcott Way: One-day closure for repairs
Another short but significant closure will hit Westcott Way, between Draycott Close and Dulverton Road. This restriction is expected to last one day from December 4, 2025, with drivers diverted via Dulverton Road and Bridgewater Drive.
Several other Northampton streets will also be restricted for essential works:
Southfield Avenue (from Ransome Road to London Road):
Closure expected for one day, beginning November 17, 2025. Diversion via London Road and Ransome Road.
Stimpson Avenue (from Adnitt Road to Wellingborough Road):

Telecom works will require a two-day closure from November 19, 2025. Access will be maintained for residents.
Alfred Street (from Stockley Street to Billing Road):
