Major disruption on trains between Northampton and Birmingham until lunchtime on Tuesday

Rail passengers travelling between Northampton and Birmingham today (Tuesday) have been warned to expect delays and cancellations until lunchtime.

Emergency services are dealing with an incident between New Street and Birmingham International and all lines are blocked.

At 10am London Northwestern Railway says road transport is now running between Coventry and Northampton to allow passengers to complete their journey or return home.

A spokesman for the train operator said: "Train services running through these stations will be cancelled or delayed. Disruption is expected to last until around 12.15 today (22 September).

"This is affecting trains in both directions.

We are working to understand how this incident will impact our passengers and provide more advice as soon as we can."
