Long delays on the M1 after two lanes are closed near Northampton

Drivers are being warned of long delays on the M1 after a broken down car transporter has blocked two lanes.

Highways England posted on social media at around 12.45pm on Monday: "The #M1 southbound #J17 (#M45) to #J16 (#A4500 #Northampton) 2 lanes have been closed due to a stranded vehicle. #TrafficOfficers are currently at scene, Recovery are on their way to the area to assist."

The AA added: "Two lanes closed and slow traffic due to stalled car transporter on M1 Southbound from J17 M45 (Dunchurch / Coventry) to J16 A4500 (Daventry). Lanes three and four (of four) are closed towards Milton Keynes."
