LIVE: Crash blocking two lanes southbound on M1 between Northampton and Milton Keynes

Drivers are being warned to expect "severe delays" on the M1 on Thursday morning following a crash between Northampton and Milton Keynes.

Highways England say a collision on the southbound carriageway after Junction 15 has closed two lanes heading towards Newport Pagnell Services just before 9am.

A spokesman from the agency said at 9.35am: "There is approximately four miles of congestion on the approach to this collision which has closed two lanes on the M1 southbound.

"Please add an extra 45 minutes on to your current journey time this morning."

Traffic joining the M1 from the A45 and A508 at Northampton is also being held up.
