Key Northampton routes set for closures as council publishes summer roadworks schedule
Motorists across Northampton and the wider county are being warned to prepare for a series of road closures as West Northamptonshire Council rolls out a packed programme of highways, utility and infrastructure works over the coming weeks.
The latest temporary traffic regulation orders include major restrictions on several key routes in Northampton, including Mill Lane, Nene Way and Heathfield Way, where a new roundabout is being constructed as part of major Section 278 works. Restrictions on Nene Way and Heathfield Way are expected to remain in place until September 18, while overnight closures are planned for Mill Lane between September 7 and September 18.
Elsewhere in Northampton, Park Avenue South will face significant disruption as part of ongoing highway improvement works linked to the Abington active travel scheme. The road between Billing Road and Christchurch Road is expected to be subject to restrictions until October 21, with a temporary one-way system and parking restrictions also in place.
Other Northampton closures include Vicarage Road in Abington on June 22, Great Billing Way northbound on June 26 for carriageway repairs, High Street in Billing on June 27, Dallington Park Road on July 2 and Barn Way in Lodge Farm from July 1.

Outside Northampton, roads affected include Knock Lane and Station Road in Blisworth, New Street in Weedon, Staffords Lane in West Haddon, Ravensthorpe Road in Teeton, Forest Road in Piddington, Potterspury Road in Deanshanger and King Street in Maidford. Most closures are linked to water, telecoms or highway maintenance works and are expected to last between one and seven days.
West Northamptonshire Council said diversion routes will be signposted where appropriate, with restrictions coming into force between June 22 and July 9.
Drivers are being advised to allow extra time for journeys and check routes before travelling while the works are carried out.
