Driver dies and three others taken to hospital after head-on crash in Northamptonshire village

A driver died and three people were taken to hospital after a head-on car crash in a village in Northamptonshire in the early hours of this morning (Saturday, March 13).

A Honda Civic travelling north on the A4300 in Geddington crossed into the other side of the road for reasons unknown and hit a blue Skoda hire vehicle heading in the opposite direction at around 12am, police said.

The male driver and sole occupant of the Honda died at the scene while the male driver and female passenger were taken to Kettering General Hospital for further treatment.

Another female passenger in the Skoda was taken to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for treatment for serious facial injuries.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service crews from Kettering and Corby helped to extricate three of the casualties.

A Northamptonshire Police spokesperson said no further details would be released.
