Driver cut free after crash on A5 near Towcester

A woman was this afternoon cut free from her car and taken to hospital suffering from head injuries following a crash on the A5 near Towcester.

The female, who is in her 20s, was involved in a crash on the A5, close to the Mill Lane turning near Grimcote, at around 4.40pm.

She was taken to hospital by ambulance.

A spokesman for Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue said the crash involved two vehicles, adding that the woman was “medically trapped” and had to have the roof of her car cut away by firefighters to be freed.

The spokesman said: “The female in her 20s was suffering from head injuries and was left in the care of the ambulance service.”

Crews from Towcester and Daventry, as well as a response vehicle from Mereway and an initial intervention vehicle from Brackley, were all sent to the scene.
