Council plans double yellow lines along long stretch of Northampton road

West Northamptonshire Council has unveiled plans to introduce new double yellow lines on Park Avenue South in Northampton, launching a consultation that will run until April 23, 2026.

The draft traffic regulation order - Amendment No. 36 to the 2018 Consolidation Order - would add double yellow lines on both sides of Park Avenue South. On the east side the restriction would run from a point 85 metres south of Abington Park Crescent for 13 metres, and from a point 43 metres north of Billing Road East northwards for 81 metres. On the west side the proposals cover a long stretch from a point 70 metres south of King Edward Road for a distance of 264 metres.

The council says the measures form part of wider amendments to waiting, loading and on-street parking provisions across various Northampton roads.

Residents and road users who wish to support, object to or comment on the proposal must send written representations to the Traffic Orders Section at Kier Highways, Brixworth Depot, Old Harborough Road, Brixworth, NN6 9BX, or email [email protected]. All responses must be received by April 23, 2026.
