Nearby, in Bridge Street, resurfacing works are also taking place, which has meant that busy road has also been closed overnight from 8pm until 6am. The last day for those works is tonight (Monday).

Stuart Timmiss, from West Northamptonshire Council, said: “We have been able to start work on this latest phase of our resurfacing programme sooner than originally planned and have just one night of overlap with the work at Bridge Street.

“We schedule this work in overnight to ensure it has as little impact on daytime traffic flows as possible, we acknowledge the disruption road works can cause and therefore do every thing we can to minimise this.

"The works will provide significant improvement on this particular stretch of road providing a long term benefit to issues that residents have raised .

“All diversions are well signposted and we monitor any temporary traffic management, making adjustments to reduce impact on motorists.”
