A broken down HGV gridlocked the A509 in Northamptonshire on Tuesday morning.
The lorry was reported stuck on a stretch near Great Harrowden at just after 9am on February 4. Queues quickly built up both ways between Wellingborough and Kettering as traffic battled to get past.
Northamptonshire Police reported that recovery was under way but congestion was expected to continue for a couple of hours.
