Highways England are warning an 11-mile stretch of the A14 could be closed heading into Northamptonshire until Tuesday afternoon followng a crash last night.

An HGV overturned and hit the central reservation barrier at around 8pm.

The westbound carriageway remains closed from junction 16 to the Thrapston turn off for the A45 at junction 13.

A spokesman for the agency said: "Recovery of the lorry is ongoing but is a complex process and barrier repairs are required.

"Diversions are in place for traffic heading westbound via the A1(M) and A605.

"We do not expect traffic to return to normal until after 1pm on Tuesday."

Firefighters from Thrapston and Raunds were involved in assisting Cambridgeshire Fire & Rescue at the scene.
