Towcester Rotarian revs up for charity grand tour

A Towcester Rotarian has been chosen to take to his saddle to celebrate 100 years of Rotary and raise money for charity.

In January 2017, Alex Cooke of the Towcester Rotary Club will join many other Rotarians from across the globe in a sponsored motorbike ride across Southern India.

The cross-country ride and has been organised to celebrate the centenary of the Rotary Foundation.

Monies raised will go to Life Education as well as a nominated charity in India to support education and welfare.

Alex said: “The mission of The Rotary Foundation is to enable Rotarians to advance world understanding, goodwill and peace through the improvement of health, the support of education, and the alleviation of poverty.”

He will take part in the TRF Centennial Expedition on a 350cc Royal Enfield motorcycle over a period of 14 days - an average of over 160km per day.

Alex added: “My aim is to raise £1 for each of the 1,400 miles of the route and donate the funds to the charity project supported by Rotary International District 3181 in India.”
