Properties in the Upton area have been warned that their power could be disrupted throughout the day as the blaze has affected the underground electrical cables.

Station commander Chris Maher said: “We remain at the scene of this fire and are currently working to damp down and establish a cause.

“As a result of the fire, Western Power have been called to do some work on underground electrical cables.

“This will mean having to isolate the electricity which could affect power to a number of properties in the Upton area throughout the day.

“I’d like to thank the residents in Upton for their patience while we deal with this incident.”
