Thousands of enthusiasts took the time to stroll around displays of steam engines, classic cars, coaches, fire engines, motorbikes and farming machinery over the August Bank Holiday, while collectors placed bids on a host of vintage machinery at an auction on Saturday.

Family entertainment included a sheep dog display, wildlife shows and archery among a plethora of stalls and a beer tent.

Vice chairman of the organising committee Carol Tngey said the inaugural Transport Show was a roaring success despite heavy rain on Sunday, culminating in a drive past by all the display vehicles in the main arena on Monday.

“All the traders loved it and the customers loved it,” Carol said. “And we had a decent amount of cars and steam engines.

“The cavalcade run on Monday, where all the vehicles went into the main ring before leaving, was really wonderful - it was a great success.”
