Teenage rugby player airlifted to hospital with head injury

A 15-year-old rugby player was airlifted to hospital with a suspected head injury during a match in Northamptonshire.

The Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance was called to the match near Long Buckby on Sunday February 3 after reports that the teenager had lost consciousness.

A spokeswoman said: “When the air ambulance arrived on scene, the player was alert but suffering from head, neck and shoulder pain.

“WNAA paramedics applied a neck collar to the casualty and immobilised him. They then airlifted him to University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire for examination,” she added.
