Talented Northamptonshire musician died after falling from Prague hotel window on brother’s stag

Tom Dewhurst was in the Czech Republic capital with his brother James last July, when the accident happened.

The 23-year-old died several days later in hospital, after suffering serious head and brain injuries.

An inquest into the death of Mr Dewhurst, who lived in Deanshanger, heard he was a popular figure who had been promoted to running the McDonald’s restaurant at Xscape in Milton Keynes.

James Dewhurst told the inquest his brother was one of three siblings, and had a normal and healthy childhood.

He went to Southampton University to study politics but dropped out as he did not enjoy it, instead taking up a career with McDonald’s.

He was also a drummer in the Buckingham-based indie rock band, the OmniVibes.

James said: “He was one of the youngest managers they had, was well thought of, and was expected to go far.

“He played squash and tennis and was an excellent drummer for a local band.”

Regarding the accident, James told the inquest that they had flown to Prague, and visited several bars, restaurants, and a casino.

Tom went back to the apartment to get changed, but did not return, James said, and was later found unconscious on the pavement outside the apartment he was staying in.

He died several days later at University Hospital Motol V Uvala, in Prague.

“He is greatly missed by all his family and friends,” James said.

Coroner Anne Pember recorded a verdict of accidental death.
