Steelbacks back bid to trace £2.6 million jackpot winner in Northamptonshire

Did you have the Lotto numbers 3, 6, 15, 17, 18, 35 on February 7? If so you could be a millionaire.

The players took time out from their preparations for the evening T20 match against Durham Jets on Friday (July 24) to help in the search for the winner - who is believed to have bought their ticket in the South Northamptonshire or Daventry area.

The owner of the winning ticket matched all six numbers in the Lotto draw on February 7, but only has until August 6 to claim their prize.

The cricketers posed with a giant dummy multi-million pound lottery cheque and played with oversized lottery balls in a bid to stop the mystery millionaire from “dropping the ball,” according to the National Lottery.

Steelbacks Captain Alex Wakley said: “It’s amazing that there is someone out there who is a multi-millionaire and they don’t yet know it.

“I urge everyone to look everywhere from the glove box in the car to maybe their winter coat, which they may well have been wearing back in a cold and dark February.

“The whole team have their fingers crossed that the lucky ticket-holder isn’t caught out and comes forward to claim their winnings.”

The winning Lotto numbers on February 7 were 3, 6, 15, 17, 18, 35 and the bonus ball was 22.

Previous Northamptonshire lottery winners Chris and Sue Bower won £4.3 million in 2012 and have urged the mystery ticket-hold to come forward.

Chris said: “Winning has changed our life. We can now do what we want, when we want. If we fancy a holiday we can do it without worry.”

If no-one comes forward with the winning ticket before the prize claim deadline, then the prize money, plus all the interest it has generated, will go to help National Lottery-funded projects across the UK.

A National Lottery spokesperson said: “We’re deep into the final over in the quest to match the missing ticket-holder with their life-changing win.

“This amazing prize could really make a huge difference to somebody’s life and, if cricket is their thing, they could travel the world watching a game in the likes of the Caribbean, Australia or Sri Lanka.”

“We’re urging everyone who bought a Lotto ticket in this area to check their old tickets again or look anywhere a missing ticket could be hiding.”
