“It is with both great joy and sadness that the doors will close on Saturday.

“For them it is not the end, it is the future they have built for their children and grandchildren. From very humble beginnings to international business, it is a wonderful story to tell.

“We would like to thank all our customers past and present for their continued support.”

Mr and Mrs Chauhan started the business in 1979 on a market stall, moving shortly after that to a shop on St Giles Street.

The couple expanded into design and wholesale and managed to sell products to high street stores and large retailers.

New offices and warehouse space were needed, culminating in 20,000 sq ft site in Brackmills in 1994 to manage the huge business growth.

Subsequently they opened the business online, selling luggage and bags around the world through www.bagsdirect.com

Most recently, the high street business moved to 4 Abington Street, which will soon be filled with another tenant.
