Smash shuts part of A45 at Barnes Meadow interchange in Northampton

A crash has closed part of on the A45 Nene Valley Way in Northampton this afternoon (Tuesday).

Emergency services dashed to the scene after 999 calls reporting a grey Ford Fiesta heading east had flipped onto its side on the Barnes Meadow flyover, smashing into the central safety barrier at about 2pm.

Officers from Northamptonshire Police at the scene have reported no serious injuries.

Highways England traffic officers blocked off the outside lines in both directions.

Traffic is likely to be affected for some time while engineers carry out repairs are made to the barrier.
