The most likely cause of a large fire at a scrapyard in Daventry was the self-heating of bags of sawdust in a trailer, according to the fire service.

Northamptonshire Fire and Rescue Service's investigation into the blaze at Intapart last Monday (August 3) is ongoing though.

Around 40 cars and vans caught fire at the London Road site at approximately 8pm with a huge plume of smoke visible for miles around.

It took roughly three hours for 40 firefighters to stop the blaze from spreading and to put it out, with assistance from Warwickshire fire stations.
