Road closed as police and fire deal with motorhome fire in Wellingborough

Emergency services were called to a motorhome fire in Wellingborough today (Thursday).

Northants Fire & Rescue Service were called to the incident in Hardwick Road, Wellingborough.

They were supported by colleagues from Northants Police, who closed the road between Vicarage Farm Road and Torrington Road while the fire was dealt with.

A spokesman for the fire service said: "Crews were called to reports of a motorhome being on fire at Hardwick Road in Wellingborough at 12.34pm this afternoon.

"Appliances from Wellingborough, Earls Barton and Rushden attended the scene and found the motorhome well alight.

"There were two propane cylinders in the motorhome, and firefighters used a hose reel jet to douse the flames and bring the cylinders down to a moderate temperature.

"They also prevented the fire from spreading to nearby properties.

"Fire crews requested the attendance of the police to help close the roads while it dealt with the incident.

"The roads have now reopened."

The spokesman added that the fire is not believed to have been started suspiciously.
