Pupils at proposed Wootton Park School in Northampton to be taught in mobile classrooms from September

Following the announcement by Northamptonshire’s Police and Crime Commissioner Adam Simmonds today that Northants Police could move out of its headquarters site in Northampton by July 2018, the Northampton Free School Trust has confirmed Wootton Hall is its preferred location.

As part of the plans, part of the site could be sold to the Education Funding Agency (EFA), to fund the construction of the new free school.

The new Wootton Park School would eventually provide more than 1,000 places for children aged from four to 19 years old.

The trust is planning to open the school in September with about 60 pupils in reception and 120 year seven students.

A trust spokesman said today the school was likely to begin operation on the Woottton Hall site in “modular buildings”.

The spokesman said: “The Trust wishes to confirm that the Wootton Hall Park site is its preferred location for a new free school, and that it is working closely with the EFA at this time to ensure that the school opens its doors to pupils from September 2016.

“As with other new free schools, Wootton Park School will begin operation in modular buildings. The new all-through (4-19) school plans to open in September 2016 with Reception and Year 7 classes.

“The Trust will communicate further as and when appropriate.”
