Updated plans issued for new technology cluster near Silverstone Circuit
The company that took over a 999-year lease for the areas of land around the edge of Silverstone Circuit, has submitted a new outline planning application to South Northamptonshire Council (SNC).
The new proposal from MEPC includes: 1,699,000 sq ft of general industrial, office, and storage and distribution space, along with 441,000 sq ft of hotels, education facilities, student accommodation, and automotive promotional space. The proposal could create between 3,400 and 4,500 jobs.

Hide AdCllr Roger Clarke, SNC’s portfolio holder for planning and environment said: “This proposal will reinforce the role of Silverstone Park as the focus for the High Performance Engineering (HPE) sector in the UK and help maintain the strengths of the district's economy into the future.
"The new outline plan means the original concept of support for the internationally known circuit and the creation of a development area to grow the economic activity associated with Formula 1, is being maintained and broadened through the provision of a purpose built site that meets the needs of the HPE sector and builds the economy of the future."
The new outline application, which will replace the existing planning permission issued in 2012 which expires next year, differs from the original as it proposes purpose-built accommodation to suit the specific needs of individual occupiers. The current scheme does not include land within the circuit.
MEPC has also submitted a design code as part of the planning application to establish guidelines and to ensure that design standards are met in the long-term.
