The council’s Economic Growth Team (EG) has found work for hundreds of people over the last decade, but is now dedicating its focus to supporting those who are out of work due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

The EG is putting them in touch with retail and distribution firms in the region which have vacancies, and has engaged with groups such as the Motorsport Industry Association, the High-Tech Innovation Group and SEMLEP.

“During this time of uncertainty, businesses and workers face a unique range of challenges, and the EG team is being as proactive as possible to support local employers, residents and the community.”

The council service will also utilise conference calls and online workshops to help businesses develop resilience and continuity plans, and help them find ways to continue operating throughout this period.

The EG Team has created a webpage with links to Government support and advice for businesses and employees, which can be found at www.southnorthants.gov.uk/coronavirusMeanwhile, the Weekly Job Clubs at the libraries in Towcester and Brackley have been suspended, with libraries forced to close by the government as it implements its social distancing policy. But an online service has gone live for employment support which includes access to expert partners.
