IM Properties has launched a virtual consultation after its planned exhibitions were cancelled due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The applicants say the employment park, which would be on Tiffield Lane, would be expected to create up to 1,500 jobs and generate an additional £82 million to the Towcester economy every year.

The land at Tiffield Lane has been identified for new employment development in the new Local Plan for the area. If it were to go ahead, it would also include a new roundabout at the junction of the A43 and Northampton Road at Hulcote, along with a ‘much improved’ footpath and cycle crossing point over the A43.

IM Properties’ planning director David Smith said: “We are excited to be able to bring these plans for much needed new employment space at Towcester out to public consultation. We have a track record for pioneering new approaches to employment parks and this project will be no exception. Environmental issues are cutting across all agendas, and we intend to strive for a ‘Carbon Net Zero Ready’ development.

“Over the course of the past three years we have consulted regularly with district, town and parish councillors, site neighbours as well as other local stakeholders, and we look forward to now sharing the plans with the wider community.

“While the current situation with COVID-19 has meant that we have had to alter our plans for public consultation we are confident that our approach will reach an even greater number of people than would have attended the original events. We are keen to engage and will use as many channels as possible to share the project with the local community.”

A new website featuring exhibition materials, images and videos can be found at www.landattiffieldlane.com, where there is also a ‘Have Your Say’ section.

Once residents have had their say, IM Properties is expected to evaluate the comments from residents before submitting a planning application to South Northamptonshire Council.
