Pictures reveal how part of Bridge Street might look if 200 flats get planning permission

New architect drawings show how an area of Bridge Street will be transformed into a new 'gateway' for Northampton

New pictures have come to light of hundreds of high rise flats, which are set to be built on the parcel of land between Bridge Street and Cattle Market Road.

Two respective planning applications have been submitted to the Guildhall by Bridge Street Commercial Ltd for one six-storey building and one seven-storey building on former depots, next to the Malt Shovel pub.

Both documents are similar in nature and builders propose they will build a mix of residential homes and car parking on the site where Bradbury Equipment and Dunlop Garage Equipment.

Developers have said in the planning document that they believe the proposals for this site would represent "much needed investment" in this part of the town and the height of the buildings would balance with neighbouring Carlsberg.

The first towerblock of apartments would include 71 one and two bedroom flats with 51 covered parking spaces and vehicle access via two points.both on Navigation Row.

While the second highrise building pitches to the planning department that there will be 168 one and two bedroom apartments - with a shop beneath facing Bridge Street - and 60 covered parking spaces.with vehicle access from Cattle Market Road.

The public can view the documents here and submit their comments by December 29.
