Northamptonshire village hall gets grant of £6,000
Overstone Village Hall committee was given the money by Daventry District Council as part of its community grants programme.
The committee applied for the grant as part of its £28,000 improvement programme, which included work to the toilets, rewiring, installing a gas boiler and radiators, plus renewing the floor in the main hall, and replacing emergency exit doors.

Cllr Alan Hills, DDC’s community, culture and leisure portfolio holder, said: “We’re very pleased to be able to help so many deserving projects across Daventry district throughout the year with our Community Grants scheme.
“Not only do the grants help groups towards their fundraising total, they also demonstrate local authority support for the project, which in turn helps to unlock funds from other grant-giving bodies.
“I would urge voluntary and community groups to contact us to find out how a Community Grant might benefit them.”
