A Freedom of Information request submitted by the Local Democracy Reporting Service has revealed the top five streets with the highest levels of fly-tipping between July 1, 2025, and June 30, 2026.

During this time, the authority said it had dealt with 22,769 incidents – an average of 62 illegal waste dumps recorded each day. This is a slight decrease from the same time period the year prior, coming in at22,923 fly-tipping instances.

However, the previous two years are a large increase from 2023/24 levels, which indicate the authority dealt with just over 17,000 reports of fly-tipping in the same 12-month period.

WNC said the streets with the highest number of council reports of fly-tipping betweenJuly 2025 to the end of June 2026 were:

1. ALCOMBE ROAD – 219 incidents 2. BILLING BROOK ROAD – 186 3. LEA ROAD – 154 4. GREATMEADOW – 135 5. ST EDMUNDS ROAD – 122

The worst five streets for fly-tipping are all located within Northampton itself. This trend is also reflected on a larger scale with the five wards with the highest number of fly-tipping incidents also being located in Northampton.

Castle ward, in the centre of Northampton, was the worst coming in at 4,178 reports in the 12 months. This was then followed by the Talavera ward in east Northampton and Abington, each with 2,966 and 1,377 reports respectively.

A West Northamptonshire Council spokesperson said: “Residents can play a crucial part in helping us bring offenders to justice by sharing with us any footage from doorbell cameras, CCTV or dashcams that might help identify them. If they see fly-tipping they are urged to report it to us via our app, website or by calling us so we can take swift action."
